In January 2015 Vorwerk flooring presented TEXtiles, its new carpet-tile collection. An ideal project partner has been found for this product line: the renowned designer Werner Aisslinger. TEXtiles is comprised of intriguing geometries, colours and products. Besides the free-form tiles by Werner Aisslinger, the programme equally includes two models by architect/designer Hadi Teherani and rectangular tile formats (PARTS) in four sizes.
Vorwerk flooring is one of the leading international suppliers of high-quality carpets, carpet tiles and elastic, organic flooring. Vorwerk flooring and Aisslinger, whose studio is based in Berlin, have now added a new facet to floor architecture within the context of the collection: Aisslinger’s most recent designs enhance the form language expressed in TEXtiles through completely new geometries and combination options. Interior designers, planners and other clientele can choose between calm, rhythmic repeat patterns and vivid, graphically oriented compositions: The modularity of the carpet-tile elements makes it possible to create absolutely new images and worlds of colour on the floor simply by modifying the way the tiles are laid.
For instance, the colour and shape of the expressive geometries entitled “TRAPEZ” and “DARTS+DIAMONDS” generate a three-dimensional effect that astonishes depending on the angle of view and is ingeniously broken up by the alternating surface texture. “TRIPOD+PRISMA” are reminiscent of the chains in molecular structures, a sophisticated look for demanding floor architecture. “STRIPE” reinterprets the classic form of the wooden plank.
The ‘tried-and-true’ free-form carpet tiles “CRYSTAL_S”, “CRYSTAL_L” and “PARTITION” by Hadi Teherani are equally a part of the overall collection. Additional variations in colours and textures mean that they too can now be combined with even greater diversity.
The TEXtiles tile programme consists of 8 carpet products from Vorwerk flooring, each of them one-of-a-kind in terms of visual look and tactile feel. In the plain-hued segment, the newly developed, tufted “Elara” is available in 24 colours, the short-pile smooth velours “Forma” in 15 colours, “Frisea”, a frieze bursting with character in 18 colours, and “Arena”, a classic with a smooth, discreet mottling, is equally available in 18 colours. The design assortment is topped off by “Strada” in 6 colours – a finely structured carpet whose patterning is reminiscent of pinstripes – and “Strada Design” in 12 variations. All in all, the revised TEXtiles carpet-tile collection now offers a range of 110 colours.
Vorwerk had already brought a pathbreaking innovation to the market for carpet tiles as far back as 2008: TEXtiles SL. When coating carpet tiles with a backing, this was the first time a manufacturer was able to refrain from using the conventional albeit ecologically alarming substances bitumen and PVCs. This new technology subsequently brought the product “Green Label Plus” certification along with an outright recommendation for people with allergies (“Life Balance” seal).
