A delegation of the Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters’ Association went to South America to check the markets of Chile and Brazil and find new opportunities.
A delegation formed by Southeastern Anatolian Carpet Exporters’ Association had a series of examinations in Chile and Brazil as part of the Urge Project called ‘Sustainable Leadership in Machine Carpets’. Carpet manufacturers from Gaziantep received positive feedbacks in South America. They visited Brazil’s largest city Sao Paulo and the Consul General Consulate General of Turkey Serkan Gedik to collect detailed the information about the market.
South America with 422 million population, has recently become an important market for Turkish carpet sector. Within the context of ‘Machine Carpet Sustainable Leadership’ program, delegation exchanged information with the Consulate General in Sao Paulo. From Turkey to Brazil, 4 million 637 thousand dollars of carpet exports took place in the 11-month period of 2017. GAHİB President Salahattin Kaplan stated that 3 million 788 thousand dollars of carpets were sold from Gaziantep. Kaplan also stated that Brazil is of great significance for the future of the carpet industry and that it would be easier to understand which products to export to this country.
