Qatar’s Ambassador to Ankara, Salemmubarek Al Shafi, visited the Southeastern Anatolia Exporters’ Association (GAİB) in Gaziantep and had meetings aimed at increasing the business volume between the two countries.
Invited by the Middle East Social Projects Research Headquarters Association (OSPAM), Qatar Ambassador AL Shafi came to Gaziantep and had important meetings with the Southeastern Anatolia Carpet Exporters’ Association (GAİB) where he met the association’s president Salahattin Kaplan.
GAİB members who export to Qatar also were present at the meetings. During the meetings, issues regarding the improvement of cooperation between the two countries were discussed. GAIB President Salahattin Kaplan expressed his happiness to see Al Shafi in Gaziantep and pointed out the brotherhood of two countries. “We see that our country has made a $ 6 million of exports to Qatar. This figure is not a figure that we desire or what we want. Therefore, we hope to increase the cooperation between the two countries in the following years” said Kaplan.
Qatari Ambassador Al Shafi noted that they are aware of the importance of Gaziantep for Turkey as well as for the world economy. He also added that they are willing to develop trade and economic fields. He reminded that currently almost 60 Turkish companies actively working in Qatar and 35 of them are in the construction sector. He also mentioned that Doha Metro “Gold Line” bidding which is one of the biggest projects in Qatar was won by a Turkish company with 4.4 million dollars. Talking about the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar, Al Shafi said that he strongly believes that key business areas with lots of possibilities will be available for Turkish investors.
