With the aim of raising the creative power of the Turkish Carpet Industry, Istanbul Carpet Exporters Association (IHIB) organized the 11th Carpet Design Contest. Hosted by IHIB with the support of the Ministry of Economy, the awards ceremony was held in a grand ceremony that took place at the Renaissance Polat Istanbul Hotel in October 2017.
In the evaluation of the final jury, 8 preliminary final stage carpets were evaluated and scored over 100 points. In the final evaluation, the designer was scored based on criteria such as creativity level, design originality and innovation, material design and material-design compatibility. Final results were obtained by adding 40% of the 2nd jury’s score and 60% of the final jury’s score. Those who are entitled to enter the first group of designs were announced at the awards ceremony.
After the opening speeches, IHIB gave platinum export awards to 41 exporting companies sorted according to their export volumes. The awards were distributed in two categories as hand carpet and machine carpet. The winners determined by the scores of the very valuable jury members of sector representatives, academicians and designers, were listed as follows:
